Narrative image making

Painted my sisters face into a pretty mermaid for my unit narrative image making. I had many ideas running through my head and wanted to try different things out. I thought of using face paint and make up to create a mermaid look and then photograph the images I made to create a story. 

Projection photography

I had lots of fun in class yesterday  trying out different things for our new unit location photography. I wanted to find a photographer that projects images onto the body, i came across Mike crawley, here is one of his amazing images.

started off by setting up the backdrop, we turned 2 tables upside down and placed a white sheet over the tables and darkend out the room.

We then used a small projector that i borrowed from the college and projected certain images that i wanted onto the backdrop, i used a white sheet and a dark navy sheet to project onto.

 

i started playing around with different images and projected them onto myself, i wore a white top  which made the images show clear, when using the white backdrop i found out that most images that were dark  showed up more clear, and when i used a dark backdrop lighter colours obviousy showed up more clear but not as well as i hoped. My friend hope took the pictures.

 

instead of just projecting images onto my clothes, i wanted to use my skin and use my body as a canvas to see how the images turned out on my body. i found out that the images projected onto my skin were so much more clear and vibrant, here is what i came up with.

 when i come to doing these images again, i am hoping to portray the beauty of the female form without the use of sexualisation. I would like to use my body as a canvas to show my/women problems and insecurites through a group of images.

we were shown this picture of 8 victorians on 28th of september in class, and were asked to imitate and make our own silly selfies.
This is what i came up with...

Pretty stones

Photograph i tool for location photography at college, i like the way the white of the rocks counter balance the dark shadows beneath and the way the shapes contrast with each other.

The spider

The spider by Louise bourgeois is very interesting to me. I think it was made beautifully and how it geninualy did scare me when I saw it at the exhibition. I hate spiders but I like the way Louise has brought out of how protective they are and how the sculpture has the eggs within the sculpture. It also makes me realise the links between mother and spiders, I've never really realised that before.

'Trois personnages'

Original etching 1951, printed on Lauriat paper.

I like the etching/print as it is very unusual to the eye, the contrast between the colours and how they blend out works very nicely. The scattered lines on the print are different and are very nice to look at. Overall I think it is a very pretty print.
